I have studied neural development and neurodegeneration using Drosophila. Through this research, I became deeply interested in the relationship between lipid metabolism and neurodegenerative diseases such as AD and PD. Despite lipids comprising 60% of the human brain, their functions remain largely unexplored due to the difficulty of analysis. By combining the genetics of Drosophila and lipidomics, I'd like to elucidate the role of lipids in maintaining neural health. Additionally, I am already engaged in studying undiagnosed diseases using Drosophila, to elucidate deeper pathological mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets for these diseases. By researching lipid metabolism abnormality-related neurodegeneration and rare diseases, I hope to contribute to a better understanding of common diseases.
